Hegel After Derrida

In spite of Derrida's insistence that we continue to read Hegel, there has been little exploration of Hegel's crucial place in deconstruction today. Hegel After Derrida is the first study to address this oversight. It examines the Hegel-Derrida question from three useful vantage points. The first section presents essays on Hegel that follow themes opened up by Derrida. The second section investigates the implications of Derrida's work on Hegel for our understanding of Marx and Freud. The final section, concentrates on the philosophical significance of Glas, Derrida's highly influential study of Hegel. Eleven essays are presented from some of the most outstanding figures working in continental philosophy today: Stuart Barnett, Robert Bernasconi, Simon Critchley, Suzanne Gearhart, Werner Hamacher, Jean-Luc Nancy, Heinz Kimmerle, John H. Smith, Henry Sussman, Kevin Thompson and Andrzej Warminski.
